Engineering and steel production company thyssenkrupp will highlight technological revolutions at this year’s Electra Mining Botswana, with industrial solutions crushing and screening technologies sub-Saharan Africa product manager Demitri Kokoroyanis presenting a free-to-attend seminar on the evolution of hard-rock crushing.

The expo will be held at the Gaborone fairgrounds from September 10 to 12.

The company’s topic ties in with the general focus of the second day of the expo, namely new technologies and the relationship between mining and the technology revolution.

He tells Mining Weekly that thyssenkrupp will present new technology in primary crushing for all types of rock, especially hard-rock applications, at the expo on September 11.

“We believe it has been a missing link in crushing technology for a number of years now.”

Kokoroyanis notes that thyssenkrupp has been involved with some new projects in the sub-Saharan Africa region, which will provide the company with “strong reference points”. He adds that the company, now celebrating 60 years of involvement in the region, has started the regionalisation process for the sub-Saharan Africa region to bring thyssenkrupp closer to clients.

The company will also present the capabilities of its mining portfolio, which includes new technologies and solutions in its minerals processing technologies, materials handling technologies and its service capabilities to include original-equipment manufacturer (OEM) field and workshop services, OEM spare parts supply and management, asset management and revamps, as well as shutdown management.
