VANCOUVER (miningweekly.com) – An employee of TSX- and ASX-listed Teranga Gold has been killed at the company’s Sabodala gold mine, in Senegal, West Africa.

The Toronto-headquartered company reported that Moussa Cissokho, who has been working at Sabodala since 2011, died on Friday while working in the process plant.

Teranga is working with local authorities to determine the cause of the incident. The company has also started its own internal investigation.

Counselling and assistance have been offered to Cissokho's family and colleagues.

The fatality is the first to occur at Sabodala since it started operations in 2009.
