Teranga reports record quarter
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX- and TSX-listed gold miner Teranga Gold has reported record gold production for the second quarter ended June, from its Sabodala mine, in Senegal.
During the June quarter, the mine produced 57 557 oz of gold, taking the first-half production to 114 460 oz.
“We are on track to achieve our 2017 production guidance range of between 205 000 oz and 225 000 oz,” said Teranga CEO and president Richard Young, adding that the operations at Sabodala were running well.
“We continue to reconcile well to reserves and plant throughput is benefiting from the mill optimisation project that was completed last year,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Teranga board has approved the investment of another A$10-million to further advance the Banfora gold project, in Burkina Faso, to improve site infrastructure and to start front-end engineering design prior to completing the feasibility study in August.
“At present, the process flow sheet, resource modelling, operating and capital costs are meeting the expectations envisaged when management initially reviewed the Banfora gold project prior to our decision to acquire Gryphon Minerals,” Young said.
