PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Mining major Anglo American said on Tuesday that its coal portfolio review was still under way and that the outcome of the review was still to be determined.

This comes after newswire Bloomberg reported that Anglo American may sell more of its Australian coal assets, citing a person with knowledge of the matter.

The news agency reported that Anglo American may add its Dawson and Foxleigh mines to its list for possible disposal. The miner in December last year said that its Callide and Dartbrook assets would be put up for sale, with Callide expected to fetch a sales price of up to $1-billion, and the defunct Dartbrook mine some A$200-million.

The sales process was expected to start in the second half of 2015.

Anglo in December also revealed that it was reviewing its options to reconfigure its South African domestic business, with stakeholder engagement set to take place in the first quarter of this year.
