JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE-listed Tawana Resources appointed Michael Bohm to its board as an independent nonexecutive director, effective August 1.

“We are delighted that Bohm has joined the board and recognise the extensive corporate and project development skills he brings to the role, with the particular emphasis of continuing to add value to the Mofe Creek iron-ore project, in Liberia,” said Tawana CEO and chairperson Wayne Richards.

The company advised shareholders on Friday that Bohm was an experienced mining professional with extensive corporate, project and operational management experience in the minerals industry in Australia, South East Asia, Africa, Chile, Canada and Europe/UK.

A graduate of the Western Australian School of Mines, Bohm had filled the roles of mining engineer, mine manager, study manager, project manager, project director and MD.

He was directly involved in various project developments in the resources sector both in Australia and offshore.  His corporate experience included previous directorships at ASX-listed Sally Malay Mining, TSX-listed Ashton Mining, Aim-listed Herencia Resources and Argyle Diamond Mines.

Bohm currently served on the board of ASX- and TSX-listed gold producer Perseus Mining and ASX-listed gold producer Ramelius Resources.

In conjunction with the appointment, Len Kolff would step down from the board to pursue other career opportunities.

Richards added that Kolff made a tremendous contribution to the board and the company over his five-year tenure at Tawana Resources, including his “instrumental role” in the discovery of the Mofe Creek iron-ore project from a greenfield prospect.
