STRATEGIC MINE PLANNER ROLE The role can create an optimised and robust mining schedule that prioritises value and ecological responsibility

Software solutions provider GEOVIA, a brand of software company Dassault Systèmes, has introduced two new roles to its portfolio, which facilitate improved collaboration, and fast-track work processes.

The two new roles comprise the GEOVIA Strategic Mine Planner role, introduced in December 2023; and the GEOVIA Underground Mine Designer role, introduced in February this year.

The roles seamlessly integrate with Dassault Systèmes’ computer-aided design (CAD) software 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

GEOVIA’s end-to-end virtual twin models focus on the intersection of natural resources, infrastructure and urban planning.

Through the integration with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, the roles contribute to a “unified source of truth”, says GEOVIA CEO Mauro DelleMonache.

3DEXPERIENCE provides a unified and updated version of a design or project by tracking all versions, as well as revisions, to present the most up-to-date version of a document for all departments to work on.

He explains that the 3DEXPERIENCE platform promotes collaboration and ensures data integrity across four key pillars, including modelling and the creation of a virtual twin of a mine, simulation, data intelligence and integration, and the enabling of collaboration channels.

Through this approach, DelleMonache says the platform addresses challenges related to data silos, which are prevalent in various industries, and enables seamless collaboration across departments and suppliers.

The cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform, he adds, augments collaboration by providing unlimited storage and computing capabilities, enabling real-time feedback and the development of different iterations of the design, which enables the system to consider more attributes in the design process.

The integration of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform unlocks a myriad of tools and capabilities from familiar sister brands, thereby catering to diverse needs and systems in place, across industries.

DelleMonache emphasises the significance of the platform’s visualising, modelling and simulating capabilities in creating a virtual twin of mining operations, which, he says, assists companies in navigating various challenges and dynamic design processes, more effectively.

GEOVIA’s Underground Mine Designer role uses generative parametric modelling to evaluate multiple design options while ensuring transparency and data model continuity across different department levels.

It complements GEOVIA’s previously-released Surface Mine Designer role, facilitating comprehensive surface and underground mine design capabilities within the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

The Strategic Mine Planner role complements GEOVIA’s existing Pit Optimiser role, to facilitate the creation of robust and reliable comprehensive strategic plans for mining operations, says GEOVIA.

The role evaluates critical input parameters through multiple scenario analyses in the mine life cycle, from mine development to closure.
