Gauteng-based lighting manufacturer BEKA Schréder has launched a new light-emitting diode (LED) lowbay with a circular economy three-star rating as part of its LEDTEC range.

Known as the LEDTEC, the light can be surface-mounted with optional lugs for centre-beam mounting or by mounting holes to secure it directly to the canopy and is also available in an emergency version.

It boasts an optional integrated one-hour battery back-up and an optional integrated movement and daylight sensor for additional energy savings. The luminaire has been designed so that the control gear and optional emergency control gear are easily accessible for ease of maintenance.

“The LEDTEC range is designed to provide energy-efficient lighting in industrial, commercial and petrochemical retail environments. It is optimised to deliver the best overall performance for lowbay applications and outperforms all other LED lowbay luminaires thanks to the substantial energy savings it generates and the performance it delivers over time,” explains Beka Schréder.

In addition to the LEDTEC, the LEDTEC range includes the LEDTEC R recessed version and the LEDTEC S surface mount version.

The company supplied the LEDTEC S lowbay as part of the LED lighting solutions for Africa's first automotive city, the Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone, in Gauteng, for general area lighting in loading bay areas. The energy efficient LEDTEC R recessed lowbay is providing the under-canopy lighting at the Shell service station on Bottelary road, off the R300 in Brackenfell, Cape Town.

Designed and manufactured in South Africa, the LEDTEC range takes Africa’s harsh environmental conditions into account while offering easy, reliable and energy efficient canopy and ceiling installation to replace up to 400 W high-intensity discharge light sources.

Other advantages include an easily accessible power supply and/or driver compartment, the ability to operate LED light sources of up to 144 W in an ambient temperature environment of up to 40 °C and an expected useful lifetime of 100 000 hours, at a lumen depreciation of not more than 30% at an ambient temperature of 25 °C.

The range also offers glare-reduced light distribution and flicker-free lighting, as well as a five-year warranty.

“The LEDTEC range is perfectly suited to multiple indoor and outdoor lighting applications with its typical lumen packages per product range and mounting options,” concludes BEKA Schréder.
