Canadian miner Teck Resources said on Tuesday that its logistics chain between west coast terminals and BC operations had been temporarily disrupted, owing to heavy rain, flooding and mudslides.

Teck stated that it had implemented measures to mitigate the effect of the disruption, diverting some trains to Ridley Terminals in Prince Rupert.

The miner noted that Canadian Pacific (CP) and Canada National Railways (CN) had begun repairs, but that they did not have estimated return-to-service dates.

“The overall impact and any potential effect on fourth-quarter sales will be dependent on the duration of the logistics chain disruption,” Teck said, adding that production at its operations had not been impacted.

Newswire Reuters reports that at least one person was killed in the major flooding, when a mudslide swept cars off Highway 99 near Pemberton, northeast of Vancouver. Two people were reportedly still missing.
