Battery metals and technology company Talga on Wednesday announced the appointment of Martin Phillips as group CEO, bolstering the company’s leadership as it executes on its Vittangi anode project and advances expansion plans.

To lead the Vittangi anode project execution phase, Phillips, current CEO Europe and COO, will be appointed group CEO of ASX-listed Talga. He will be based in Stockholm and will report to the board of directors.

Phillips will remain a director of Talga AB (Sweden).

Mark Thompson, Talga’s founder, continues to serve as MD and a director of the Talga AB (Sweden) board of directors.

“In his new role, he [Phillips] will lead the continuing development of Talga’s global operations, including our mine and refinery development in Sweden, battery technical centre in the UK and process development facilities in Germany,” said Talga nonexecutive chairperson Terry Stinson.

The group CEO appointment follows the executive changes to Talga’s Swedish board and European team in December, when it appointed former Swedish Minister of Employment and Gender Equality Eva Nordmark as a nonexecutive director and Per-Inge Kruse to the role of group director of business development and strategic alliances, as well as Anna Motta to the role of group chief technical officer.
