With its head office situated in Woodmead, in Johannesburg, United Mining Services (UMS) Group incorporates internationally recognised UMS METS and UMS SHAFT SINKERS brands and is a leader in the mining and minerals processing sectors.

The Group presently has offices in South Africa, the UK, Botswana, the US, Brazil and Zambia. The Group is currently undertaking numerous projects in South Africa as well as Botswana, the US and Brazil for both mining and metallurgical processing clients.

The Group has the in-house capabilities to design and build new mines and processing plants, from concept to procurement, construction and project management, commissioning, ramp-up and operation.  By providing clients with a single source for the design, costing, procurement, scheduling, and project execution, allows for seamless integration between project phases and gives greater cost and schedule accuracy, ultimately reducing risk for the client.

Through its library of technical knowledge and experience UMS can solve virtually any mining, underground construction and minerals processing challenges. With some of the best and most experienced industry experts found anywhere, our management and technical teams are recognised industry experts and include professional engineers (mining, mechanical, electrical, C&I, civil and structural), draughtspersons, project engineers and project managers, sinking specialists, project planners and schedulers as well as experts in project control and procurement.

In driving innovation, UMS has recently created a new company with 1Worx, a specialist in the field of Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) and Augmented Reality (AR) to bring high-tech digital solutions to the conceptualisation, design, construction and operational management of mining projects and mining operations.

Through its integrated management system, the Group rigorously monitors the safety performance and quality of all its projects. The Group holds ISO certification based on the following international standards: ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001.

The Group has an extensive plant and equipment facility where specialised equipment is rebuilt and maintained to the highest standards. Its impressive suite of sinking equipment means it can undertake any sinking project without lengthy delays normally associated with the purchase of new equipment.
