Dual-listed Sibanye-Stillwater’s corporate and South African operations have achieved ISO 27001 certification.

ISO 27001 is a globally recognised standard that sets out the requirements for an information security management system (ISMS). It provides a systematic and risk-based approach to managing and protecting sensitive information, including financial data, intellectual property, customer information and other critical assets.

ISO 27001 certification is essential for protecting the group’s employee and client information, reputation and other sensitive information, Sibanye points out.

The standard includes a process-based approach to initiating, implementing, operating and maintaining an ISMS.

Benefits of ISO 27001 certification include increased reliability and security of systems and information; improved customer and business partner confidence; increased business resilience; alignment with business requirements; and improved management processes and integration with organisational risk strategies, the group highlights.

“This certification is a significant milestone and validates our dedication to maintaining the highest level of governance and security practices and our commitment to meeting the needs of all our stakeholders. As we continue to grow as an organisation, we remain steadfast in our commitment to uphold the highest standards of information security,” CEO Neal Froneman says.

Sibanye is a multinational mining and metals processing group with a diverse portfolio of operations, projects and investments across five continents.
