PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed project house CIMIC Group has been awarded a five-year contract extension to continue providing mining services at the Lake Vermont coal mine, in Queensland.

The contract extension, with Jellinbah Group, is expected to generate revenues of some A$2.5-billion for Thiess, CIMIC said on Friday.

The contract continues Thiess’ full-service mining operations, including mine planning, coal mining, topsoil and overburden removal, drill and blast, water management, and rehabilitation of final landforms.

Thiess will also provide a range of autonomous services at the mine, including the implementation of autonomous drilling and semi-autonomous dozer push.

The contract will start in January 2022.
