Tshiamiso Trust appoints new CEO

Dr Munyadziwa Kwinda has been appointed Tshiamiso Trust CEO with effect from June 1

Dr Munyadziwa Kwinda has been appointed CEO of the Tshiamiso Trust, which was established to give effect to the settlement agreement reached between six mining companies and claimant attorneys in the historic silicosis and tuberculosis class action.

Kwinda, who is a qualified health professional, will take up his new position on June 1.

He is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a medical practitioner specialising in family medicine, and he holds both science and medicine degrees from the University of Venda and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as postgraduate qualifications in family medicine, bioethics and health law.

He also holds a postgraduate degree in law.

With 20 years of working experience, including years of experience in clinical care, Kwinda has held various management positions at senior, executive and nonexecutive levels.

“Dr Kwinda’s unique combination of skills and experience in medicine, ethics, law and management makes him the ideal candidate to carry out the trust’s mandate. We are excited to see the work of the trust go from strength to strength under his leadership and guidance,” chairperson Dr May Hermanus says.

The trustees also thank Lusanda Jiya, the acting CEO of the trust, for her solid leadership in this period of change and transition.
